Well the group of death just got interesting.
Being first off the tee this morning required an early start, 6.30 for breakfast to be precise. Following breakfast the juniors headed to the driving range followed by some putting practice. At 7.40 our juniors reported to the starter completely focused on the task ahead.
Behind the scenes the support team were enthusiasticly finding trolley’s topping golf bags up with enough water and fruit to last a small famine and all the preparation was complete.
Four and half hours later with lots of ebbing and flowing the first results were in, all square one point each. The remaining matches were too close to call.
Next two results in, two points to Beadlow Manor, with growing excitement we realise that we could not lose the match. We now needed a half from any of the remaining three matches left on the golf course.
Just a short time passes and they deliver, Beadlow Manor 3 1/2 The Vale 2 1/2. We had beaten the reigning champions in our first match in the National Team Final!
Played one, won one, we could not have asked for a better start. It was a great performance from all of the juniors today.
Following lunch there was a little practice session on the driving range before some well earned rest. Later this evening Gary will hold a de-brief meeting with the juniors before we all meet for dinner and an early night.
Tomorrow is another day and another tough challenge but a win would put us in with a very good chance of a semi final place, watch this space.
